My adult life has been indelibly marked by a few events. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) at age 27 and I learned to shoot and hunt at age 34. Both events have had amazing and wonderful effects on me. I moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1979, which plopped me down right in the middle of a pro-hunting lifestyle.

Not long after my diagnosis and I married a wonderful friend of mine who saw in me the potential to become a hunter. MS takes on many forms, and my type (relapsing/remitting) progresses fairly slowly so my husband was able to take advantage of my more-often-than-not good health to patiently teach me about guns, ballistics, ethics and everything else regarding the hunt. I started with birds and bunnies, then unbelievably jumped right into plains game hunting in Zimbabwe. Of course, the obligatory moose in Alaska was in there too. Fishing has been a passion long before hunting became one, and you can read more about my various hunts, fishing trips and how I had to adapt to each one in my future articles.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime to ask questions or make suggestions (either about my writing or topics you'd like to hear about). I am so impressed by all of you who can and do hunt responsibly and ethically and help promote the strength of women as people. Keep up the good work!
